Hotel L’Archipel is one of only seven hotels with advanced sustainability recognition from Pace Seychelles the leading Green Technologies supplier in the Indian Ocean Islands.
After extensive planning Hotel L’Archipel on Praslin has taking the wonderful initiative to “Go Green” at this magnificent property by implementing numerous renewable energy solutions with a positive impact to the environment and improving guest effort.
The project has been passionately driven by Lucas and Eddie d’Offay with wonderful support from their team. Pace Seychelles has worked closely with the team at L’Archipel in auditing the energy consumption at the property to prepare a short, medium and long term strategy for implementing the following green initiatives.
Energy Management Systems (EMS)
All refurbished rooms have been installed with Inncom’s EMS Systems with intelligent occupancy detection to control the rooms energy consumption in rented and unrented states. Guest comfort has been improved, condensation and humidity dramatically reduced whilst achieving a 30% saving of the in-room air-conditioning energy consumption. In excess of 88 000 kWh are saved per year dramatically reducing the hotels carbon footprint.
Solar Photovoltaic Panels
The property is currently installing 244 Solar PV Panels in Phase One with a annual production of over 108 000kWh which saves about 28,850 liters of diesel fuel annually. Not burning this fuel saves 76.8 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide annually, which is the equivalent pollution of removing 16 cars from the road permanently.
All refurbished rooms have been installed with efficient LED lighting reducing the rooms lighting demand by 80%. Phase two of converting the property to LED lighting will be the installation of the entire garden with Exlite Solar LED Lights.
Innu-Science Biotechnology Cleaning - Green Cleaning
The hotel has successfully implemented Bio-Technology cleaning in the restaurant and kitchen operations ensuring a hygienic and safe environment for guests and staff. The hotel has removed over 43 000 litres of toxic chemicals per year from their operation ensuring a sustainable future for the ground water and ocean surrounding the property.
Ozone Wash Cleaning
The hotel effectively uses ozone cold water cleaning on their dishwashing machines to reduce their energy consumption by over 32 000kWh per year. By not burning unnecessary fuel for cleaning of dishes this is the equivalent of removing 5 cars from the road permanently.
